It’s been a couple years since we’ve made it up to Downtown Golden and when we suggested the area for Tara + Cody’s maternity session we were expecting the nice quiet little town it’s been in the past. Quite a surprise when we got up there and couldn’t even find a parking spot with the events going on that evening! Despite the crowds though it really is a cool town and we were still able to find some places away from all the people. Not to mention it gave us the opportunity to venture into new places including the train tracks. Cody + Tara are such a great couple and Tara looked absolutely beautiful! Even with the heat that afternoon we had a great time with these two- correction make that three! Big brother-to-be Quinton also came along for the session and is such a funny kid! The new baby is going to have one awesome big brother and some amazing parents! Here’s a sneak peek into our afternoon with them
Last weekend we met up with the Brandle family at Elk Meadow Park in Evergreen. It’s been years since we last photographed there and I forgot just how beautiful of a location it is especially near sunset! They have been friends of my brother and sister-in-law for years (Ryan even officiated my brother’s wedding back in 2011) so we were excited to get a chance to photograph their new little familyTheir 8 month old little man Brooks is ADORABLE! How could you not smile with that face?! He did so well for the session and we loved that they wanted to incorporate his blocks that had been passed down from multiple generations. We even got a few with their cute pup and the whole family together. They definitely have a beautiful family and we had a great time getting to work with them that afternoon. Thanks Ryan and Emily for a fun session and here’s some of our favorites!
Two summers ago we got to photograph the Kooi Family and had the best time! Since that summer their family has grown and now they have three of the cutest and funniest kids- talk about loads of personality! We headed over to the gorgeous fields near South Platte Park and couldn’t believe our luck, NO mosquitos! Well at least until we actually stepped foot into the fields… I was a walking mine field after this session but it was worth it! The kids are all so funny and really liked “posing” for the camera. Kendall was hilarious with her hillbilly pose with the grass in her mouth and I found a cute little lady bug that Camryn held. Their little man Dylan was so cute and was making some hilarious little faces probably due to the fact that they found out after the session that he was cutting a tooth at the time but you’d never know based on how well he did! Here’s some of our favorites from the day including one quick shot we got right during the most beautiful sunset.
I know it’s been awhile since our last blog post in the fall. Michelle has been dealing with some health issues from a bad case of pneumonia since October so we decided it would be best to take a little longer break than usual during the winter. We did make an exception back in January for our session with Melissa and Matt (Michelle’s sister and brother-in-law). While we usually don’t photograph maternity sessions until a month or two before the baby is due, this one was a bit out of the ordinary. Back in 2012 Melissa was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of only 29. She went through the whole gamut of surgery, chemo, radiation, etc hoping that it would keep the cancer from coming back. Unfortunately in early 2015, a few months after learning she was pregnant, she got the bad news that the cancer had returned and the best option was to go through a double mastectomy right away during her pregnancy. Obviously not the news anyone wants to hear especially when you are planning to bring a new life into this world! She went in for the surgery the end of January and has been doing awesome! We decided that before the surgery would be a better time to capture some photos of her and her new hubby Matt so the weekend before the surgery we lucked out with some nice weather and headed to Columbine Open Space just south of Castle Rock. It was a little muddy from the snow but I love this location even in the winter. We had fun taking pics of the two of them- even capturing a few “in between” goof off momentsThey are expecting their first child in about two months now and can’t wait to be aunt & uncle to our new niece!
What a perfect end to our 2014 family sessions! We had such a great time getting to take pictures of the Gates family up in the BackCountry of Highlands Ranch the first weekend in November. I’ve known Brandon all the way back to elementary school and it was so nice getting to see him again and meet his beautiful wife, their two adorable kiddos, and the awesome mustache he’s currently sporting It’s always fun getting to do something a little different so we enjoyed getting to incorporate some indoor photos into our typical outdoor session. They have a gorgeous house in the BackCountry that made the perfect backdrop for half our session and then we headed up the way to finish the pictures outside with some leaves, mountains, and the scrub oak that looks so cool in the winter. We had the best time with them and I LOVE how the pictures turned out. We even got some fun ones of Max and Macey jumping on the trampoline in their backyard! Here’s some of our favorites from the day- had the hardest time not sharing more!
It’s always an honor to get to take pictures of another photographer especially when your “subject” is as talented as Kim who owns Element One Photography in Littleton. She was actually a bridesmaid in Cydney + Kiel’s wedding back in 2011 (one of our favorite weddings ever!) and so we were very excited to get the chance to photograph her beautiful family the last week of October. We had the perfect combination of a super good looking family, a couple who really knows how to pose, and the most beautiful sunset light in my favorite season of all- fall! Basically it would be impossible not to get gorgeous pictures of these guys! And did I mention how cute their little man Jett is?! We met up with them at South Platte Park in Littleton and I’ve got to say it’s a new favorite spot after both our sessions there that week. Thank you guys for allowing us to capture your beautiful family- enjoy the sneak peek!
Our final engagement session for the year was with Leslie & Steve the weekend before Halloween. Most locations usually have lost all their leaves by that time but we can always count on South Platte Reservoir to still hold onto the fall colors a little bit longer. Since downtown Littleton is so close we split the session and ended our evening with some urban photos up the road. When a couple is comfortable with one another it makes for not only beautiful pictures but such a relaxing and easy session and we couldn’t have had a better time with Leslie & Steve! It took very little prompting when it came to posing these twoI’ve known Leslie for close to a decade and it’s so great to see how happy Steve makes her. God Bless your marriage and we know your wedding in Mexico will be gorgeous!
