Abby: Castle Rock Senior Portraits

It’s crazy to think we’ve known this girly since she was only 11 years old and now we’re taking her senior portraits! And technically they could be called “college freshman” portraits since she actually graduated this last May from Valor and has started her first year of college up in Ft Collins. Abby’s family moved across the street from Michelle’s parents years ago and we’ve spent countless holidays and “family” get-togethers with them- they have basically become familyicon smile photoWe were honored to get the opportunity to take these pictures for her- she’s definitely grown up to be a beautiful young woman! Not only that but she is an incredibly talented musician so we had to incorporate a few shots of her with her cello during the session. We met up with them at Columbine Open Space just outside of Castle Rock and then headed over to another favorite spot just up the way at Dawson Butte. We had so much fun getting to take these and are excited to get to share them! Here’s some of our favorites- enjoy!

The Chasinoff Family: Larkspur Family Photography

With some changes we’ve made this year to our business it’s opened up a lot more time for family sessions which we LOVE getting to photograph. A week ago we got to meet friends of Jennifer and Nick Leonard, the Chasinoff family. We had a great time getting to take their photos and at one of our very favorite locations- Dawson Butte! They have a beautiful family with two beautiful girls! Allie their youngest has such a personality too- always my favorite part of getting to photograph familiesicon smile photoThe question we are most often asked when it comes to family pictures is what is the best way to dress? Since a picture says way more than words and the Chasinoff family NAILED it with the perfect clothing choices, I’ll just refer people to this post from now on. It was such a pleasure getting to work with these guys and I’m so excited to share some of our favorite pics from our session- enjoy!

Leonard Family: Castle Rock Family Session

What a difference a year makes! The last weekend in June we met up with the Leonard family at Columbine Open Space in Castle Rock for a family session. They were hoping to find a location with a barn and after some research we were so happy to find this spot just outside of town! It just happened to be exactly one year from our session with them last summer and it was so much fun to see how much their kids have grown since then. Reese is now walking which makes exploring everything around him so much more fun for him and a great workout for his parentsicon smile photoWe did manage to capture a few of the whole family together while Reese enjoyed moving rocks from one place to another. We always love getting to work with Jennifer & Nick and with Lexi & Reese they make one of the cutest families ever! Here’s some of our favorites!

Kinsley: Aurora Children’s Photography

Our session with Kinsley has been burning a hole in my computer the past two weeks while we’ve caught up on a few other things and I’m so excited to get to share them! 2014 is a year of new beginnings for us with many changes to our business that we can’t wait to share in the coming months. With those changes it will mean a lot more time for sessions just like this! We met Kinsley’s parent’s, Tamia & Adam back in 2009 when we photographed their engagement photos at Washington Park. Since that time they’ve gotten married and now have the most adorable little girl! We had the best time getting to photograph her including a few pics of the family together. We met up at Star K Park in Aurora which was a perfect location for pictures (minus my first ever allergy attack from the tall grass- but totally worth it). There’s nothing better than getting to capture little kids personalities and we are so happy that we got a chance to work with Tamia and Adam againicon smile photoHere’s some of our favorites from that afternoon!

Mandy + Jack: Wedding at Castle Cliff Estate

We’re always a little partial to weddings in May- partly because it’s also the month we chose to say “I do” 11 years ago and partly because it’s before the hot summer temps get rid of the beautiful green that’s so prevalent in the spring. While spring has had a bit of a rocky start including a fluke snow storm mid month, the first weekend in May was a beautiful one for Mandy & Jack’s wedding at Castle Cliff Estate. If there is one word to describe their wedding it would be details! Lots and lots of details! Everything from vintage sofas and tables, to the church pews brought out for the ceremony, to the bride’s not 1 but 2 dresses. They even had two of their pups join in on the wedding dayicon smile photoTheir wedding was a photographer’s dream and we couldn’t have asked for a better couple! We absolutely loved getting to work with both Mandy & Jack and their incredibly sweet family & friends. Thank you Cydney from Stiletto Events for the recommendation and for doing such a beautiful job putting everything together. Here’s some of our favorites from the rehearsal and wedding day. It was so much fun getting to use the vintage furniture- the bridal party on the sofa is one of my favorite bridal party shots ever! Mandy & Jack congrats and thank you for trusting us to capture such an important day in your lives- God Bless!

Mandy + Jack: Picnic Themed Engagement Session

Last Friday we had the pleasure of finally meeting Mandy & Jack for one of the funnest engagement sessions ever! Several years back we started dabbling in model and fashion photography and what we loved most was being able to tell a story and getting to use our creativity with this type of photography. So, when Mandy suggested a themed engagement session we were beyond excited to work out the details with them. Their idea was a Hamptons nautical/picnic theme. Pulling that off meant finding a setting that didn’t scream Colorado but could really be anywhere USA. We found the perfect location right here in Castle Rock that has areas of trees and tall grasses and then really cool sand bars with huge boulders. To say these two were easy to photograph is an understatement! They were so easy going and so much fun! Looking through the photos I don’t think anyone could guess it was Colorado in the middle of wintericon smile photoWe were hoping for a warm afternoon and fortunately besides the wind that kicked up midway through we lucked out with a really nice day. So excited to share these pics and couldn’t resist posting one of Jack’s awesome jumping skills. Cannot wait for their wedding this May and a big thank you to Cydney at Stiletto Events for recommending us!

Kristen + Tyler: Lair O’ the Bear Winter Engagements

We LOVE photographing engagement sessions! And as long as it’s not freezing out, winter can be a beautiful time of year for them. About a week ago we met up with Kristen and Tyler at Lair O’ the Bear in Idledale for their engagement session. This was the first time we’d gotten to photograph at that location in the winter and while it’s already a favorite spot of ours, it’s the perfect place this time of year. The snow along the half frozen river made for the most gorgeous backdrop! It’s pretty in the summer but doesn’t even compare to this! Kristen and Tyler are still in the midst of planning all their wedding details but wanted to start the process with an engagement session. They were referred to us by another local photographer, Kelsey Haffner, who takes the cutest baby & newborn picsicon smile photoWe are so thankful she sent them our way! Kristen and Tyler were so much fun to work with. They weren’t afraid to climb in a tree or walk on the frozen river (even after Michelle partway broke through the ice). You can tell they have fun together and make a great couple! We got some great pictures of these two and are excited to share them. Kristen and Tyler we’re so happy we got to work with you and wish you guys all the best with your wedding!!
