A couple weeks ago we met Millie and her family up at Red Rocks for a family portrait session. There was a concert that evening but we generally don’t run into too many people as long as we arrive several hours before the concert. Apparently this crowd was a little different. It looked as though they had been camped out for hours or even days and there were lots of interesting characters- including one man running around in just his underwear and a bathrobe. I guess that’s to be expected when you attend a concert featuring one of the members of the Grateful Dead. It was quite amusing to people watch while we met up with Millie and her family- you couldn’t help but laugh- I guess the perfect atmosphere for starting pictures:-) We met Millie through her son, Chris, who I had worked with for a few years at my day job. Chris purchased the session for his mom as a gift last year which made the perfect opportunity for some pictures of the family. We had a wonderful time getting to meet everyone. Even saw a few deer on the steep rocks while we were photographing which Chris’ daughter, Moorea, found quite entertaining- she’s such a cutie! Millie, you and your family were a pleasure to work with and we really hope we get the chance to work with you again in the future!

Robyn & Chuck originally planned on having an intimate wedding ceremony while taking a cruise to Italy. However, through a little convincing from Chuck’s daughter, Christina, Robyn & Chuck decided that in addition to their cruise that they’d plan something “small” for family & friends to witness here in Colorado. Well, it didn’t exactly turn out to be a “small” event as all of Robyn’s family traveled in to take part in their celebration- it had been over 10 years since the last time they were all together. They held the wedding at Hudson Gardens here in Littleton. Having past by Hudson Gardens all these years I’ve always wanted to photograph there and we finally got the chance. They held the ceremony in the Rose Garden in honor of Robyn’s grandmother, Rose. It’s really a beautiful location! Following the ceremony we headed to Aurora to the Wheatlands Community Center for the reception. We had a great time getting to know Robyn & Chuck and their daughters, Christina & Jade. Thank you guys so much for allowing us to capture your big day. We wish you all the best- God Bless!

Our second session in September also brought us back to Wash Park for Robyn & Chuck’s engagement and family session. We met Robyn at Heather & Don’s wedding back in May and are so glad we had the opportunity to work with her, Chuck and their girl’s as well. Since Robyn’s daughter, Jade, and Chuck’s daughter, Christina, would be part of the wedding it only made sense to include them in the engagement photos for a combo engagement/family session. Robyn’s friend Diane (who we also met at Heather & Don’s wedding) also joined us during the session with her cute little puppy. We knew that they were going to be a really fun group to work with- after all they were friends of Heather & Don, and sure enough they were just as much fun as we thought they would be. We had a great time photographing them that afternoon! Even got a fun “cheesy” family photo at the end- dogpile! Here’s just a few of my favorites from the day. Check back for their wedding photos sometime this next week.
Where the heck has this month gone? Seems like it just began and now we’re almost in October! We have so much to blog about from this past month and this one goes all the way back to the beginning of September. We met the Anderson family at Wash park for their family session several weeks back. We’ve photographed at the park several times but this was only the second time doing so with young children. And we learned a very important lesson- don’t let them see the playground BEFORE the pictures or they’ll just want to play. Really can you blame them? Hmm smiling and sitting still for someone you don’t know or playing…. I’d probably want to go play too
So after a couple attempts of getting the family together for a few pics of everyone smiling we let the girls off the hook to go play and figured we could get a few of them having fun on the playground in the process. After a little while we were then able to get everyone together for a few pictures before they were ready to get back to the playground again. Even snuck a few of the girls smiling. Here’s just a few pics from our day.
Since starting our business officially back in 2006, Michelle and I have yet to take a single vacation. We’ve taken a few trips for weddings, photography conventions etc but nothing for just us. So, despite the fact that we are in the midst of the busy season we decided we needed a short break from everything Colorado and headed to Washington state to visit Michelle’s family. We spent our time up at her aunt & uncle’s place just north of Bellingham (which is located about 2 hours north of Seattle). While we spent our time relaxing and absolutely loving every minute of our trip we also had the opportunity to meet her cousin’s fiance, Tilly and take some engagement pictures for her and Jay. We were pretty bummed that we can’t make it to their wedding next year so decided this would be the next best thing. Well basically the one word to sum up this engagement session was AWESOME!!!!!!!!! I’m not sure if it was because we were on vacation, the beautiful location, or the fact that Tilly and Jay are a super hot couple, but this has to be one of my all time favorite engagement sessions ever! I’ve been dying to share these ever since we took them a few weeks back and here they finally are. We usually try to take engagement sessions in the evening during sunset but since Tilly and Jay had to head back to Seattle that afternoon we decided to switch it up and started a little after sunrise. Her aunt and uncle actually run a wedding venue off their property called D’Lightful Celebrations at Tail Skid Meadows (more about that later) so it’s perfectly set up for gorgeous pictures. The light was so cool at their place that we just had to get a few shots with the beautiful light before heading into town for the rest of the pictures. The rest of the time we spent photographing in the Fairhaven area of Bellingham. We had such a great time with them walking around and getting to use all these cool new locations that we’ve never shot before. We even went into one of the bookstores for a few pictures just for something different and fun. My favorite part though had to be the old rustic building with signs that told us no trespassing. Hello, that sign simply means “super awesome location” to a photographer. Truthfully we really only went into one small area that had an opening in the chain link fence right next to the open area that anyone could use. And of course we had to go down to the water and get some sweet shots under the pier and by the old posts from what must have been a pier a while ago. I could go on and on about this one but I’ll let the pictures do the rest of the talking. Tilly and Jay we had a lot of fun with you guys and are so happy for you![]()
