Her Life Magazine Cover: September 2011

I realize this post is long overdue but life has been a tad busy over the past few months and since everyone is always so busy during the holiday season anyway we figured we’d wait until things started picking up for the year to post our last few shoots with Her Life Magazine. This particular photo shoot was taken for the September 2011 cover of Her Life Magazine. Our cover girl for the month was Brandi Shigley. Our shoot with Brandi was one of our favorite during our time working with the magazine. Brandi’s full of personality and while she takes her business seriously she knows how to have fun doing it. It’s awesome to see someone who is passionate about something focusing that passion into helping others. Her business, Fashion Denver, is all about helping local designers pursue their dreams and bring their vision into the marketplace by connecting them with people to do so. While they recently closed the retail portion of the business to focus more on helping designers in other aspects of the business, we had the opportunity to see the boutique while it was up and running and get a glimpse of some local designer’s work. It was a lot of fun seeing so many cool unique pieces. Here’s some of our favorite images from our day including of course a few of Brandi skating around on her roller skates wearing a feather headpiece (an image that shows her personality better than words can describe). Robynn + Kyle: Red Rocks Engagement Session

Wow I guess it’s been quite a while since my last post! A LOT has happened in the last few months including selling our house and moving last month. I have a ton of things to blog from the end of last year but here’s something new from our engagement session with Robynn & Kyle last weekend. It’s nice to get back into photographing after a little break during the holidays and cold weather and we couldn’t have started off the year any better. We actually met Robynn a few years back when she was a bridesmaid in Heather & Bill’s wedding and now we get the pleasure of working with her and Kyle. We had so much fun with the two of them up at Red Rocks. Yes we had some wind to contend with but they live in Wyoming so compared to that wind this was just a mild breeze It was a beautiful day though- couldn’t ask for better weather in March. Robynn & Kyle have so much chemistry. They definitely know how to make each other laugh and can have fun together so this session was so easy and fun that we had a hard time narrowing down which ones to show. Here’s just a few from the day. Can’t wait until their wedding this summer!

The Fox Family: Daniels Park Family Portraits

Earlier in the year you may recall we photographed Matt & Kristie while she was pregnant for a couple’s maternity session. Well, their little man entered the world about 6 months ago now and this time we had the chance to photograph the three of them- Matt, Kristie and baby Ethan. He’s adorable!!! We’ve know this awesome couple for a few years now after photographing their wedding and their not just clients but friends. They recently started a fellowship prayer group that we were able to join and are so glad to have them in our lives! Anyway, the first week of November on the first day of the time change we met up at Daniels Park for pictures. I always forget just how fast the sun sets this time of year and especially that first day when we lose an hour of light in the evening. We actually got some pretty awesome backlit images as the sun was going down but it soon got really cold so we cut the session short and headed back to the house for just a few photos of Ethan while we had a little bit of daylight left. We’ll be taking a few more pics since our session got cut short but I loved these ones we got that day. Everyone was troopers with that cold air coming in especially Kristie in a dress! (Michelle was freezing even with gloves and a jacket). Here’s some of my favorites- stay tuned for the rest!

The Kitchens Family: Highlands Ranch Family Pictures

While there may be a few kids who are fairly neutral when it comes to having their picture taken most kids fall into one of two categories- those who hate it and those who could smile all day long posing for the camera. Our little Goddaughter Berlin is definitely the latter. We’ve known the Kitchens family since I started my current “day job” several years back and have been great friends ever since. They moved to Colorado from Texas back then but unfortunately only stayed for a little while before moving back to their home state. We miss having them here but LOVE getting to spend time with them every time they visit Colorado. It’s been amazing to watch their daughter Berlin grow- from a little miracle baby born just a bit over 2 lbs to now a 3 year old full of energy with the biggest smile ever! Back in October they came out to visit for a family vacation and while this wasn’t a planned photo shoot we decided since it was such nice weather that we’d love to take some family pictures for them. I have to smile every time I see that big grin on Berlin’s face. We just love this family and are so blessed to have them in our lives. Love you guys!!

Tarika: Denver Actress Headshots

A few weeks back we met Tarika to take some acting headshots for her portfolio. In addition to acting she works with the Nathan Yip Foundation who we had the pleasure of getting connected with a few years back after a friend and one of our favorite brides (Hanako) introduced us to this wonderful organization. Tarika needed some headshots for her acting portfolio but while we were out taking photos we also took some additional portraits that she could use outside of just her portfolio. She wanted an urban look for the images and the lower Highlands neighborhood of Denver was the perfect location- I think this is one of my favorite places in Denver to shoot! It was a tad windy and as soon as the sun started setting it went from a pretty nice day to COLD really fast (it was the end of October so I guess we can’t complain too much). We had a great time working with her and found some really cool places we hadn’t photographed before. Tarika was so nice and as the photos show obviously very photogenic! Here’s some of my favorites- enjoy!
