Tarika: Denver Actress Headshots

A few weeks back we met Tarika to take some acting headshots for her portfolio. In addition to acting she works with the Nathan Yip Foundation who we had the pleasure of getting connected with a few years back after a friend and one of our favorite brides (Hanako) introduced us to this wonderful organization. Tarika needed some headshots for her acting portfolio but while we were out taking photos we also took some additional portraits that she could use outside of just her portfolio. She wanted an urban look for the images and the lower Highlands neighborhood of Denver was the perfect location- I think this is one of my favorite places in Denver to shoot!  It was a tad windy and as soon as the sun started setting it went from a pretty nice day to COLD really fast (it was the end of October so I guess we can’t complain too much). We had a great time working with her and found some really cool places we hadn’t photographed before. Tarika was so nice and as the photos show obviously very photogenic! Here’s some of my favorites- enjoy!

Erica Cobb: Her Life Magazine August Cover Girl

A few months back we had the opportunity to photograph the beautiful Erica Cobb from Denver’s own Alice 105.9 morning show with BJ, Howie, & Erica. Not only is Erica beautiful but she was so easy to work with and is just as nice as can be- Michelle and I had a great time getting to meet her that day! We met Erica at her place in Denver for the shoot and right away knew it was going to be the perfect location. The building has so many great features including an awesome waterfall along a wall out on the terrace that we could have photographed in front of all day. Since Erica competes in fitness competitions and is in great shape we knew we also wanted to include a few photos of her in the gym and fortunately we had the room all to ourselves to snap a few photos of her “working out”. I don’t think you could possibly take a bad photo of Erica and we had a tough decision choosing which ones we wanted to end up in the August issue for Her Life Magazine. Here’s a few images that made it to print and a few additional favorites that didn’t. Also, click the link below to check out the video that Mike “Moose” Ahlstrand with Alice 105.9 took of Erica during our shoot including a small segment with yours truly acting like a dorkicon smile photoPS. Erica will be answering love and relationship questions each month in Her Life Magazine’s “Ask Erica” section so send in your questions to the magazine if you’ve got ‘em.

Suuthe: Her Life Magazine July Cover

The July Issue of Her Life Magazine featured Mari Carlin Dart, the owner of an all natural skin care line called Suuthe. Mari developed Suuthe initially not as something she intended to sell but rather to treat her son’s eczema when he was a baby. She had tried so many different things and nothing seemed to work so began mixing up her own blends of natural ingredients that seemed to work to some degree separately but were amazing when put together. Being “hippie-types” ourselves when it comes to what we consume and use on our skin, we were really excited to meet Mari and hear more about the great product line she carries. She and her business partner as well as her family were an absolute joy to work with! They couldn’t be a nicer group of people and we had such a fun time working and talking with all of them. The weather finally held the day of the shoot after a few times of rescheduling due to crazy Colorado storms. We got some great images outside their home as well as the neighbor’s garden who was kind enough to allow us to use their yard for a few shots. Make sure to read more about Mari and Suuthe in the July issue online and of course try some of their products- Michelle and I LOVE them!!

Denver Magazine Photographer: Red Rocks Family Pictures

The June Cover story for Her Life Magazine featured Anne Dunn- a mother of 4 who struggled with infertility (something we know all too well about) and was blessed with triplets after finally getting pregnant and a little over a year later added one more to their family. Photographing three 6 year olds and one 5 year old at first sounded pretty challenging but definitely not this family! We had such a great time with all of them and couldn’t believe how well behaved and easy going the 4 kids were. Since the story focused on family we figured why not photograph the session as we would a regular family session. We met up at Red Rocks for the photoshoot and spent the afternoon near my favorite location- the Trading Post. Anne is actually Janell’s sister-in-law (our trendsetter model from the May issue featured in the post below). We had a great time working with Anne’s wonderful family. Thanks guys for a great afternoon!

Meghan: Littleton Band Photographs at Night

Meghan contacted me a little while back to see if we could set up a shoot for some individual promo images for her band Murphy and the Claytones of which she is the lead singer (and by the way has a beautiful voice!) I’ve known Meghan since back in high school and had no idea she was so talented. Apparently neither did she as it was just something she picked up one day not too long ago. Most of their music is R&B and they play in some local Jazz bars in Denver so we used that as inspiration for our shoot adding blues and purples to light up many of the photos. I absolutely love getting to photograph at night and while it may take a bit more patience with each shot than natural light it’s so worth it when you get the shot! We chose downtown Littleton since it’s a little less crowded then Denver on a Friday night and there are so many cool little alleyways and buildings in the small downtown area we had plenty areas to choose from. It was so much fun working with Meghan and getting to see her again all these years after high school. She was a great model! Thanks Meghan for being such a trooper while we walked around all nighticon smile photoLove the shots we got!
