Meghan: Littleton Band Photographs at Night

Meghan contacted me a little while back to see if we could set up a shoot for some individual promo images for her band Murphy and the Claytones of which she is the lead singer (and by the way has a beautiful voice!) I’ve known Meghan since back in high school and had no idea she was so talented. Apparently neither did she as it was just something she picked up one day not too long ago. Most of their music is R&B and they play in some local Jazz bars in Denver so we used that as inspiration for our shoot adding blues and purples to light up many of the photos. I absolutely love getting to photograph at night and while it may take a bit more patience with each shot than natural light it’s so worth it when you get the shot! We chose downtown Littleton since it’s a little less crowded then Denver on a Friday night and there are so many cool little alleyways and buildings in the small downtown area we had plenty areas to choose from. It was so much fun working with Meghan and getting to see her again all these years after high school. She was a great model! Thanks Meghan for being such a trooper while we walked around all nighticon smile photoLove the shots we got!

Denver Roller Dolls: May Cover Shoot for Her Life Magazine

Back in March we had the chance to meet and photograph Heather “Bijou” Angeli with the Denver Roller Dolls for the May cover of Her Life Magazine. Bijou is a member of Bruising Altitude and the Shotgun Betties. We had the chance to see her in action at a bout shortly after our photo shoot and can these girls kick butt! Not sure how long I’d last in the rink with this group of ladies. If you’re looking for a fun date night or family evening in the Denver area definitely check them out- we had a great time! As for our photo shoot, we figured what better location than somewhere urban like downtown Denver. A big thank you to Scarlet Salon who couldn’t have done a better job with Bijou’s hair & makeup- loved the purple! Bijou was an absolute pleasure to work with and was so easy going in front of the camera which made it a bit difficult to narrow down our favorite shots for the magazine. The issue will be up online at www.herlifemagazine.com/denver a few more days before the June issue is released so make sure to read her inspirational story. Having been diagnosed with MS just about a year ago, she doesn’t let it get in the way of life and uses skating as a platform to reach others touched by this disease. Thank you Bijou for the fun afternoon and hope to make it to another bout someday soon!

Denver Fashion: Her Life Magazine April Trendsetter

One of my favorite things about working with Her Life Magazine each month is the opportunities it has provided us to expand our portfolio and do things we’ve never done before. April’s issue was very much a first for us. When we heard that the trendsetter would be featuring a local lingerie boutique, Chelsea of London, we weren’t exactly sure what to think considering that it’s not a subject we are used to photographing. After spending some time coming up with a theme for the shoot though we were confident it was going to turn out great and in the end I think we got some great images. Our idea was essentially a business woman getting ready or coming home from work pairing business casual attire with the lingerie from the boutique. The stuff from the boutique is definitely more high end so we wanted to make sure the images were sexy (but still tasteful) so we used more dramatic lighting to create the perfect atmosphere to achieve that look. We had a great time and really enjoyed working with Valerie & Candace from Donna Baldwin Talent. Thank you both so much for modeling for us! Also a big thank you to the Hotel Monaco for providing such an awesome room for our shoot!

Kathy Sabine: Her Life Magazine Cover April

Back in February we had the pleasure of meeting the one and only Kathy Sabine! While I’m sure I don’t need to mention she is one of Denver’s favorite news personalities (and meteorologists) and works for 9News I did want to say that she is just as nice as you could imagine! It was so great meeting her and her family and getting the opportunity to photograph them for the April issue of Her Life Magazine. Since most of us know the tv side to Kathy Sabine we decided to focus on her family life- as a wife, a mother and lover of horses. The shoot took place in their home and property just a little out of town away from the city chaos. They have a beautiful home and we couldn’t have asked for a better day in February… although a little less wind might have been niceicon smile photoIf you haven’t had the chance to see the issue in print I’d highly recommend checking out the issue online to view her story which will be available for the next couple weeks at www.herlifemagazine.com/denver. Here are just a few favorites from our shoot that day- enjoy!

Her Life Magazine Denver: March Trendsetter

If you like dance, yoga or gymnastics you’ll love the march trendsetter for Her Life Magazine. The magazine featured Aerial Dance over Denver for this issue and our aerialist models, Megan & Michelle, made hanging from a trapeze and drapery look so easy (which I can say from trying is not at all easy). Not to mention they made it look so elegant at the same time. This shoot was a ton of fun for us. We had no idea there was anything like Aerial Dance over Denver around and to get to photograph them in awesome tutus and shirts provided by House of Arden and Creme de la Couture made it even better. We decided our theme for the shoot was going to be stage lighting. These ladies are performers so it only seemed fitting for the subject. Megan & Michelle did a great job posing for us and we love the way the pictures turned out! Check out the links below to see more about everyone involved in this project!
