Aubrey + Cameron: Engagements at Chautauqua Park

Sometimes you just have everything fall into place- perfect couple, perfect location, perfect weather and just an overall awesome time. Our session with Aubrey + Cameron was just that! Not only are they the CUTEST couple and super sweet but they ride downhill mountain bikes, Cameron rides dirt bikes, and they are fellow “yeep” (aka Jeep) owners- this was a match made in photographer heaven (in case you didn’t know I also ride mountain bikes, dirt bikes, and we LOVE our Jeep). The day of our session was the first time we had the pleasure of meeting these two but had heard nothing but wonderful things about them from Cydney at Stiletto Events and we knew by our emails back and forth that we were really going to enjoy getting to work with them. I love that they brought along props to really personalize their pics. Of course that had to include Aubrey’s awesome pink bike which made for some really fun photos and the veil and crown was hilarious!! Aubrey + Cameron both went to CU so Boulder was the perfect location for their engagements. It was only the second time we’d been to Chautauqua Park but it was the first time we’d been there in the spring and it was GORGEOUS! We can’t wait for their wedding this August! Thank you Cydney for referring them to us and Heathyrre did a beautiful job (as always) with Aubrey’s makeup. Here’s a sneak peek from our session.

Ashlyn + Tyler: Winter Engagements at Mount Falcon

It’s always interesting to hear couple’s stories of how the met and Ashlyn & Tyler’s connection to Colorado definitely had us wondering. Both are Texas natives, currently living across the country, but are getting married in the Colorado mountains despite family & friends living elsewhere. We were curious why they decided to plan the wedding here (besides the fact that it is a beautiful location to get married) but it made perfect sense seeing as they met here while on a ski trip with friends. Apparently they instantly clicked when they met and that chemistry was definitely obvious throughout our session with them up at Mt Falcon. I almost felt like we should have been paying them for modeling rather than them paying us! It’s plain to see they are a gorgeous couple but they were also so much fun to work with. Most of the snow from our recent storm had melted down here in town so we were expecting nothing more than a little mud and some snow on the grass. We got a bit of a shock to find just how much snow was still up there. I think each of us had at least a handful of close calls almost falling while we slipped through the slushy snow. They were so great about it though and I think in the end the pictures were definitely worth the slushy hike. We can’t wait to photograph their wedding this coming summer especially since Cydney will be planning it- we know it will be awesome!

Makeup: Heathyrre Kautz of Heathyrre Kautz Couture (she did a beautiful job like always with Ashlyn’s makeup for our session)

Daniels Park Engagement Portraits: Christy + Matt

One of the reasons we always include an engagement session with every wedding is because it’s a great way to get comfortable in front of the camera and gives the couple a chance to see how we work before the big day. Having a camera follow you around all day can be a little intimidating for almost anyone- at least us NORMAL people (celebrities excluded). So, the engagement session is perfect practice. Christy & Matt weren’t too sure about this whole photo idea but their friend Michelle who also came along for the shoot (she’s like a 2nd mom to Christy) convinced them that one day they’ll look back and be glad they captured such an important time in their lives. I’m so glad she convinced them because they really are a beautiful couple and we got some amazing images of the two of them! Since Matt had to catch a flight back home later that evening we opted for a location that was closer and chose one of my favorite spots- Daniels Park. I always forget what a gorgeous view it is up there. We had a wonderful time photographing them that day and can’t wait for their wedding in September. A big thank you to Cydney of Stiletto Events for recommending us and excited to get to see what you have in store for planning their big day!!

Downtown Golden Engagements: Jess + Brenden

Last weekend we met up with Jess and Brenden in Downtown Golden for their engagement session. We opted to start the pictures as late as possible that evening due to the heat and even then it was still around 100 degrees by the time we finished at sunset! They were such troopers though and we were able to get some amazing pictures. Brenden is one of my brother’s really good friends and was a groomsmen in his wedding this past fall- now it’s Brenden’s turn and he and Jess are getting married this September. We had such a great time with these two! They were so natural in front of the camera and have such chemistry together that our session ran a little longer than normal because I just couldn’t stop taking pictures- oopsicon smile photo Although in the end I’m glad we stayed out a little longer than planned which allowed us to get some awesome pictures of the beautiful sunset! We had a tough time deciding which photos to pick from there were so many we liked but here’s a few that we just had to share. This first picture was taken against a building that always reminds me of a setting you’d find in Mexico- I LOVE it!

Engagements at Lair O’ the Bear: Sarah + Luke

I can’t believe it’s already the middle of June! And if this past week is any indication of the weather to come it looks like it’s going to be a very hot summer. Last weekend we were fortunate to have a little break from the heat for Sarah & Luke’s engagement session up at Lair O’ the Bear in Idledale. This location is one of my new favorite spots and it was the first time we’ve gotten to photograph there this time of the year. We met Luke back in 2009 in Jamaica when we photographed his brother’s wedding (Alyssa & Matt). He’s such a nice guy and we had a great time getting to know him over the few days we spent in Jamaica with their family so when we heard from him last year that he was engaged we already knew we’d like Sarah and really enjoy getting to work with both of them. So of course we had a blast photographing their engagement session! We met up with them during my favorite time of day- a few hours before sunset. The light is just gorgeous this time of day and it was perfect for our session with the two of them. I always like to have a little fun if people are up to it and since I just can’t resist dandelions we had to take a few pics with these giant ones found in the field. These are some of my favorite images from the day- can’t wait for their wedding this August!

Robynn + Kyle: Red Rocks Engagement Session

Wow I guess it’s been quite a while since my last post! A LOT has happened in the last few months including selling our house and moving last month. I have a ton of things to blog from the end of last year but here’s something new from our engagement session with Robynn & Kyle last weekend. It’s nice to get back into photographing after a little break during the holidays and cold weather and we couldn’t have started off the year any better. We actually met Robynn a few years back when she was a bridesmaid in Heather & Bill’s wedding and now we get the pleasure of working with her and Kyle. We had so much fun with the two of them up at Red Rocks. Yes we had some wind to contend with but they live in Wyoming so compared to that wind this was just a mild breezeicon smile photo It was a beautiful day though- couldn’t ask for better weather in March. Robynn & Kyle have so much chemistry. They definitely know how to make each other laugh and can have fun together so this session was so easy and fun that we had a hard time narrowing down which ones to show. Here’s just a few from the day. Can’t wait until their wedding this summer!
