Cydney + Kiel: Wedding at The Manor House

So this post is going to be a bit longer than usual. For one I’ve known Cydney since we were in elementary school and so I couldn’t have been more thrilled to capture this day for her and Kiel. Secondly, this was the last wedding of the year and we had the most beautiful fall day, a beautiful location, and a beautiful couple to photograph.  Lastly, well Cydney is a wedding planner so this wedding had so many gorgeous details that I had to share Cydney’s talents with future brides and can’t stress enough how much we recommend hiring Cydney! Cydney & Kiel were married last Saturday at The Manor House in Ken Caryl Ranch. The Manor House is one of my favorite locations to photograph for obvious reasons. It’s a beautiful location! We were so fortunate to have such awesome weather the day of the wedding. Besides a little wind (okay a LOT of wind) the weather was perfect for the end of October. Despite the wind the girl’s hair stayed in place all day- big props to Samantha Koch! Cydney & Kiel opted to see each other before the wedding for a “first look” session which provided us with the just the right amount of time to get plenty of pictures in the pre sunset warm light. We took so many amazing pictures it was almost impossible to narrow down which ones to post! And we had the coolest bridal party ever (and cutest groomsdog) which just added to more awesomeness! I could go on and on about all the details of their wedding but I’ll just let the pictures do the talking. We couldn’t be happier for Cydney & Kiel- thanks guys for trusting us to capture this wonderful day for you!

Kristin + John: Inverness Wedding Photographer

Two weeks ago Michelle and I had the pleasure of photographing Kristin + John’s wedding at the Inverness Hotel here in the DTC. We couldn’t have asked for a nicer day- not too hot or cold and a nice mix of a little sunshine with a few clouds. It was one of those days that helps you remember why living in Colorado is so awesome! Kristin and John chose to see each other before the ceremony for a first look session. We love doing these since it allows us more time with the couple and it seems like it always helps calm any nerves before walking down the aisle. I love the look on Kristin’s face right before John turned around to see her! Following the ceremony we took a few more photos of the two of them before they headed off to the reception and I LOVE the ones of them standing behind the tree! We had so much fun working with these two and are so happy they found us. We got some hilarious pictures during the reception when everybody starting to let loose. At one point I decided to utilize the video feature on my camera since a photo just couldn’t quite capture the moment. There always seems to be someone at a wedding that just captures your attention and this little guy was definitely it that evening- he was a riot to watch! Check him out on the video link below. We had a difficult time narrowing down which pictures to show from there wedding but here they are- enjoy!!

Katie + Felix: Wedding at Mt Vernon Event Center

Michelle and I had been looking forward to Katie + Felix’s wedding for a long time! We first met the two of them about a year and half prior to their wedding and knew instantly that we wanted to work with them. Katie is a friend of my brother’s from college and for anyone who knows me and my goofy personality, well that’s my brother too. And, Katie has the awesome sense of humor that when you joke around with her she’ll just give it right back and it’s easy to see why her and my brother are friends. Katie and Felix and so much fun to be around and getting to work with couple’s like them is what makes my job never feel like work. They were married on June 25th at Mt Vernon Event Center in Golden. John Payne of John Payne Studios came along for the day to work alongside Michelle and I and made the day even better- he’s such a great guy and is actually the other talented photographer behind Her Life Magazine! I have to say the best part of the day was during the reception when they took out boxes of hats and masks shipped all the way from Peru (where Felix’s family is from) for all the guests to wear- almost all of the 200+ guests were out on the dance floor having a blast! We were so happy to be a part of this great celebration for Katie & Felix- we wish you two all the best!

Heather + Jeff Wedding: D’Lightful Celebrations at Tail Skid Meadows

This particular post I (Michelle) am writing since I happen to have known Heather just a teeny tiny bit longer than Dusty (about twenty years or so). This wedding means a lot to us personally since Heather is my cousin. When we heard Heather had met someone we were so happy for her and when we heard they were getting married, well we knew this must be some guy! While I may be a tad biased I’m sure anyone who has ever met Heather knows what a special person she is and so we knew that whoever Heather would meet someday would have to be just as wonderful as she is. From the moment we met Jeff we knew she had found Mr Righticon smile photoTo see how much they love each other made this one of my favorite weddings we’ve ever photographed. We couldn’t be more happy for the two of them and are so glad we had the opportunity to be there to witness such an important day in their lives. The wedding was held at my aunt and uncle’s place just outside of Bellingham, Washington. They have a gorgeous location where they host weddings all summer- D’Lightful Celebrations at Tail Skid Meadows. It was so nice to see all the greenery this time of year- something I wish Colorado had more of but to make it green requires rain and lots of it! It rained almost our entire trip but on the wedding day shortly after arriving at the house the clouds parted and the weather was absolutely beautiful the rest of the day- we couldn’t have asked for more! With the property out in farm country of course they have a few cats who have made the place their home. One of them, Sam, decided he wanted to be the center of attention on more than one occasion and thought Heather’s dress looked pretty comfortable for a nap while we were taking pictures. During the reception a few of the girls from Heather’s dance studio, A Gift of Dance, surprised Heather with a short performance. I could probably write forever about how much we enjoyed getting to photograph their wedding and how nice it was to see lots of family but I’ll let the pictures (and LOTS of them) tell the rest of the story. We wish Heather and Jeff all the happiness in the world. God Bless!!!

Traci + Jeff: Colorado Fall Wedding

The 2010 wedding season started off great and couldn’t have had a better ending! Traci & Jeff’s fall wedding was a perfect way to end our year. Although it was a bit windy, the weather was gorgeous for the middle of October. They held their ceremony at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Aurora. Michelle actually lived just up the street from the church when she was a kid so it was cool to get to photograph there all these years later. It is such a beautiful church and it’s so rare that you get that kind of beautiful light for photos inside a church! Following the ceremony we headed to the Courtyard in Cherry Creek where the views from the ballroom on the top floor are just amazing! We could even see the wildfires burning out near Chatfield that day. We had so much fun at this wedding- even got to dance to Michelle and I’s song during the reception- something we haven’t done in quite a while. Traci & Jeff are such genuine nice people and we were amazed at how kind their family & friends were as well. It’s people like them that make our job such a joy! Thank you guys for allowing us to photograph this important day in your lives. We also want to say a big thank you to Christina & Ryan, whose wedding we photographed back on 07/07/07, for sending Traci & Jeff our way- thanks guys!
